Like any church, Muskoka Community Church is supported entirely by the generosity of people who give their hard-earned money to the work God is doing in and through us. Most of this support comes through our own attendees, though over the years many other churches and individuals have believed in our mission enough to share the financial burden. There is never any pressure or coercion used in raising money at MCC, and people are not judged or measured by the amount they give. All giving is held strictly confidential by those involved in book-keeping.  We believe giving to a church is an act that is both practical and spiritual, as outlined below.

The Practical Side of Giving

Even the most basic of churches have expenses to meet, including facility costs, utility bills, staff salaries, curriculum, classroom materials, insurance, advertising, and office supplies. When we all chip in a portion of our own money, it allows the church to meet these expenses and to thrive. MCC is registered as a charity in Canada, and therefore your donations are tax deductible (our finance team tracks donations and sends out receipts around February each year). The generosity of all of our members is needed to keep us thriving and growing as we fulfill our mission in Muskoka. If you would like to know where the money goes, you may request a copy of our budget from our treasurer by emailing finance@muskokacommunitychurch.com.

The Spiritual Side of Giving

Though the practical side is important, we believe giving at its heart is a spiritual act that benefits the giver as much as the recipient. Generous, sacrificial giving is an important part of the life of any Christ-follower. It is an expression of trust and love for God, as we let go of what is so precious to us out of gratitude for what He has done. When done with the right attitude, giving is a spiritual exercise that strengthens the faith of the giver and loosens the grip of materialism that is so prevalent in our society.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:7-8)

How to Give to MCC

Offering Box - We don't "pass the plate" on Sunday mornings to ensure that no one feels unduly pressured to give. However, a simple wooden offering box is available into which gifts given by cash or cheque may be placed. If you would like to be receipted for cash gifts, be sure they are in an envelope with your name written clearly (as well as mailing address the first time).

Bank Bill Payment - If you bank with TD, online bill pay is available to pay directly from your account. Click here to request a "giving number" from our treasurer in order to use this system. Note: This service is only available to TD customers at this point, however if there is enough interest from those who bank at other institutions we can pursue getting additional banks set up. Contact our finance team to make a request.

Email Money Transfer - Email money transfers are a convenient way to give without any percentage fee being taken (however you may be charged a set dollar amount by your banking institution). Use finance@muskokacommunitychurch.com as the recipient. To learn more about these e-transfers, click here.

PayPal - If you would like to give online using your bank account or credit card, click the donate button below. This process is handled securely through PayPal. Signing up for a PayPal account will allow you to pay with your bank account and will make subsequent donations easier, but it is not necessary in order to give using a credit card. Note: When giving using this method, PayPal collects a small percentage fee.

By Mail - If you prefer to mail a cheque, please make it payable to "Muskoka Community Church" and mail it to the address on our contact page.
