October 20-21, 2018
This fall marks 10 years since our first service at Riverside Public School. We've planned a great weekend to celebrate God's faithfulness over the last decade, and we're inviting our friends and supporters to join us. Conveniently, we've also scheduled Pastor Jeremy's ordination service as part of the festivities. Below you will find a schedule of events, information about housing, as well as a link to buy tickets for the catered dinner.
Saturday, October 20, 11:00 a.m. - Jeremy McClung's Ordination Service (MCC Facility)
Saturday, October 20, 5:00 p.m. - Celebration Dinner & Dance (Dwight Community Centre)
Sunday, October 21, 10:30 a.m. - 10 Year Anniversary Worship Service (MCC Facility)
"Ordination" refers to the official recognition by the church that an individual is called to and gifted for ministry. As a "licensed" pastor, Jeremy has been in the process for several years, but recently completed all of the requirements and examinations with our denomination (the Brethren Church). The final step is a special worship service at the local church, where the actual ordination will happen. Join us for this important occasion Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church building (126 Greer Road, Port Sydney). The service will last about an hour, and a luncheon will follow.
* If you'd like to help provide food for the luncheon, contact Virg Malone.
Celebration Dinner & Dance
This is the heart of the weekend as we sit down to a delicious supper and reminisce together about what God has done over the last 10 years. This is a special time for members of our congregation, early supporters, and friends from afar to enjoy a special time together. We'll share stories and testimonies, look at photographs and other mementos, and thank God for all He has done in and through us in an atmosphere of joy and celebration. The dinner will be followed by a fun, lighthearted, family-friendly dance DJ'd by one of our early sound guys, Chris Jones. Doors open at 5:00, program starts at 5:30, and dinner at 6:30.
Because this is such a special occasion and we want everyone to be able to relax and enjoy this time together, we've rented the Dwight Community Centre and hired a caterer to prepare a scrumptious dinner. We're asking for $25 per adult and $15 per child to help cover food costs. Tickets are limited and sold on a first-come-first-served basis, and must be purchased by Sunday, October 7th. Dress code is dressy-casual so don't hesitate to dress up a bit! We would prefer all ticket sales to be done through the links below, but if you need other options, please email April McClung.
We recognize that not everyone can afford to pay that much, but we definitely want everyone who is a part of MCC to be there. If you are a part of our congregation and can't afford the full price, simply email April McClung and indicate how many tickets you would like and what you can afford to pay, and she will get you set up with a discount code.
10 Year Anniversary Worship Service
This is a chance to come together in our regular worship environment to thank God through music, Scripture, and prayer. We'll reflect not only on God's faithfulness so far, but also on where we're headed in the next 10 years. We have extra-special activities prepared for the kids, too! After the service plan on sticking around as we plant a 10-year memorial tree on the property, and enjoy cake before we head our separate ways.
We expect several guests from out of town for this weekend. If you're in need of housing and would like to stay in the home of members of our congregation, we will do our best to accommodate you. Email April McClung with details of your needs. (Also email April if you are local and would like to open your house to guests).
Demand for hotels that weekend is high, so if that is your preference, we recommend booking well in advance. You could also check out Airbnb or search for local cottage rental services. We have a block of rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn Express for $179 each if you book by September 28. Click here to access that rate.
